ASUN Athletes of the Week

Trio of Owls Earn ASUN Athlete of the Week Awards

KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State track & field had three members selected as ASUN Conference Athletes of the Week.

On the men's side, Isaiah Rogers was named ASUN Men's Field Athlete of the Week, while Malik Hussie earned ASUN Men's Track Athlete of the Week. For the women's team, Caroline Timm was awarded the ASUN Women's Track Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday.

Rogers won the men's weight throw with a mark of 24.37m (79'11.5") at the Rod McCravy Memorial. That mark ranks No. 1 in the NCAA and ASUN this season and also set a new program record. He leads the NCAA by 2.06m (6 feet) and the ASUN Conference by 11'1.5 feet. This is his first career ASUN weekly honor.

Hussie won the 400m in a personal-best time of 47.95 seconds at the Rod McCravy Memorial. He won that event over runners from Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky and Howard among others. That time ranks tops in the ASUN and is No. 31 in the NCAA this season. He finished sixth in the 600m in a time of 1:20.28. He ran on the Owls 4x400m relay that finished in a time of 3:12.25. That time ranks tops in the ASUN, is second in program history and 26th in the NCAA this season. This is also his first career ASUN weekly honor.

Timm won a pair of events at the Rod McCravy Memorial. She was victorious in the 3k with a personal-best time of 9:42.65 beating runners from Ohio State, Butler and Northern Kentucky among others. That time ranks third in the ASUN was good for second in program history. She also won the 600m in a personal-best time of 1:34.20. That time also ranks second in program history. This is her first ASUN Athlete of the Week honor.

The combined event athletes will compete at the Samford Multi on Jan. 19-20. The full KSU teams return to action on Jan. 27-28 at the Bob Pollock Invitational in Clemson, S.C.
