KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State men's tennis team picked up a 6-1 win in the season opener over Mercer Monday on the Betty Siegel Courts. The match was the Owls (1-0) seventh consecutive home win dating back to last season.
KSU collected the doubles point and five singles wins to secure its third consecutive win in the series over the Bears.
The Owls won the doubles point picking up wins on courts two and three.
Harvey Conway and
Anthony Weingarten defeated Nemanja Stefanovic and Marceau Foulihoux 6-2 on court three.
Hugo Salmeron and
David Leon snatched the point for KSU with a 6-1 victory over Andrew Branicki and Samuel Barrow.
Raul Garcia and
Seru Tezuka and Mariano Argote and Samuel MacLeod were tied 3-3 on court one when the point was clinched.
Garcia picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win over Mariano Argote to push KSU to a 2-0 lead. Tezuka def. Marceau Foulihoux 6-3, 6-4.
Harvey Conway clinched the win for the Owls downing Nemanja Stefanovic 7-6 (7-1), 6-3. Leon picked up his first collegiate win taking down Andrew Branicki 6-7 (6-8), 6-1, 6-1. Weingarten needed three sets but defeated Samuel Barrow 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 to also collect his first collegiate win.
