KENNESAW, Ga. –  Kennesaw State volleyball, riding a three-game win streak and currently tied for first in the ASUN at 2-0, is looking to remain perfect in ASUN play as the Owls play their first ASUN road games of the season this weekend, starting on Friday at 6 pm against Liberty, before closing out on Saturday with a 5 pm match at new league member Queens.
The Owls had been rolling with six 3-0 sweeps in their first nine games. The opening weekend in ASUN play though marked the start of much tougher competition, as KSU topped North Alabama 3-1 before holding off Central Arkansas in five sets 3-2 to keep alive its home win streak at 11.
KSU is looking to keep alive its perfect mark against Liberty, having defeated the Flames in the previous 13 meetings. Saturday will mark the first-ever meeting between the Owls and Queens in volleyball.
The biggest key for KSU this season has been its overall depth, as a year ago the Owls were led mostly by the same two players on offense. This year is seeing a very balanced attack, as KSU is routinely playing 11-12 players a match, while the top seven players in the kills category all range between 44-112.

PLAYERS TO WATCH
Senior outside hitter Emma Schurfranz highlights the returnees, as the preseason All-ASUN selection is posting 2.74 kills per set. She's far from the only one shinning though, as Jasmine Brown is currently sixth in the ASUN in hitting percentage at .344. Junior setting McKinley Ferguson is having an outstanding junior season, ranking fourth in the ASUN in both assists at 10.22 apg and aces at 0.44. Claire Parsons is fifth in hitting percentage (.347) and fifth in blocks (1.00 bps), while Dani Ballou is currently ninth in kills per set (3.2 kps) and 10th in digs (3.78 dpg).

SCOUTING THE FLAMES
Liberty is one of the four unbeaten teams in the ASUN, after sweeping its opening weekend of play against Queens in back to back 3-0 victories. Overall, Liberty is 9-5 this season, and 6-1 at home with a loss to Coppin State. Looking at common opponents, KSU defeated High Point 3-0 earlier this season while the Flames lost by a 3-1 margin in a match played at VCU.
Pacing Liberty this season is Trinity Watts with 186 kills and a 3.58 kps average, while Kate Phillips, the current ASUN Player of the Week, is next with 143 kills (2.98 kps).

SCOUTING THE ROYALS
Queens is 5-10 in its inaugural Division I season, and that includes a 2-1 record in its final non-conference action of the season after posting wins in the Georgia Southern tournament over Chattanooga and Saint Francis. The Royals have only played one game at home this season, last weekend's loss to travel partner Liberty.
Leading the Queens squad is Alleigh Johnson with 3.23 kills per set (171 total). Jordyn Johnson also has over 100 kills for the Royals with 110 and a 2.08 kps average.
