Owls Soar to Jacksonville State for Battle at the Border

KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State football travels to Jacksonville State for its first ASUN Conference matchup in program history. KSU holds a 3-0 lead in the all-time series over the Gamecocks, with kickoff set for 2:00 p.m. (EDT).

Top Storylines 
  •  Kennesaw State football is 6-1 in conference openers heading into Saturday's contest with Jacksonville State. KSU has outscored its opponents 231-119 in these matchups.
  • The Owls enter this weekend with a perfect 3-0 record over the Gamecocks with one win coming in the second round of the 2017 FCS Playoffs. KSU defeated JSU again in 2018 during a five-overtime battle that was voted the FCS Game of the Year. Last season, Kennesaw State handled Jacksonville State in the first contest inside Fifth Third Bank Stadium with a 31-6 victory.
  • In its first three meetings with the Gamecocks, the KSU offense has averaged 36.0 points per game. The Owl defense has also been tough on the Gamecocks, holding JSU to seven points or less in two of the three contests.
  • Defensive lineman Travis Bell enters Saturday one tackle away from 100 for his collegiate career. The graduate student has bolstered the KSU defensive line over the past four seasons and ranks fifth in the Owl record book for total sacks in a career (9.5).

  • 4 - In its 83 games, KSU has only been out-rushed four times.
  • 1 - 2022 marks year one for Kennesaw State in the ASUN Conference for football after seven years in the Big South.

No other start-up program in college football history had more wins in its first five seasons than Kennesaw State with 48 victories.
