KENNESAW, Ga. –  Kennesaw State puts the nation's 17th-longest active home win streak (seven games) on the line this weekend as the Owls officially open ASUN conference play by hosting a pair of league opponents in North Alabama on Friday and Central Arkansas Saturday night.
All three teams have had strong starts to the season, and the Owls look to continue their domination at home as they have yet to lose a set at home this season, thanks to four 3-0 sweeps (Furman, High Point, Samford, UAB). KSU has held the upper hand in the series with UNA, having won all seven of the meetings with the Lions. This will be just the second all-time meeting between KSU and Central Arkansas though, and the Sugar Bears came away with an upset win last season.
The biggest key for KSU this season has been its overall depth, as a year ago the Owls were led mostly by the same two players on offense. This year is seeing a very balanced attack, as KSU is routinely playing 11-12 players a match, while the top seven players in the kills category all range between 34-79.

PLAYERS TO WATCH
Senior outside hitter Emma Schurfranz highlights the returnees, as the preseason All-ASUN selection is posting 2.52 kills per set. She's far from the only one shinning though, as Jasmine Brown is currently second in the ASUN in hitting percentage at .394 and is ninth in blocks at 0.88 bps. Junior setting McKinley Ferguson is having an outstanding junior season, ranking fifth in the ASUN in assists at 9.63 apg. Claire Parsons is fifth in hitting percentage (.358) and third in blocks (1.12 bps), while Dani Ballou is currently fourth in service aces per set (0.48 saps) and Ferguson is fifth (0.47 sapg).

SCOUTING THE LIONS
North Alabama has been one of the early surprises of the ASUN, as the Lions have posted a school-record best 10-2 start to the year since it joined the Division I level in 2018. That includes both a six-game win streak and a four-game win streak, though the team lost in its last outing, a 3-1 loss at the road to tournament host Tennessee State on Sept. 17.
Pacing the team this season is Taylor Floyd, with almost twice as many kills as the next player with 142 total (3.38 kps). Katy Floyd is next with a 3.24 kps average. The Owls are hitting .227 as a team and have held its opponents to just .103 through the first 12 contests.

SCOUTING THE SUGAR BEARS
Central Arkansas has been strong away from home this season, taking two of three in the Tiger Brawl this past weekend with the only loss coming at the host Memphis Tigers, while the Sugar Bears also opened the year winning all three games in the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational hosted by Missouri State.
Laci Bohannan has a team-high 111 kills to lead UCA (3.08 kps). Leigh Maher is tops in digs with 184 (4.19 dps), while Macy Blackburn and Kendall Haywood have 21 and 20 blocks, respectively.
