KENNESAW, Ga. – With the season opener one month away, Kennesaw State football quarterback
Xavier Shepherd was named to the
Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-America Team, announced on Monday.
Shepherd put together a record-breaking year in 2021 and set single-season school records for passing yards (1,341) and passing touchdowns (15) en route to being named a First Team Postseason All-American by STATS Perform. He also led the FCS in rushing touchdowns with 23.
The reigning Big South Conference Offensive Player of the Year recorded multiple accolades at the ASUN Conference's inaugural Media Day July 22. The Nashville native was selected as the conference's first Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and was named to the Preseason All-ASUN Team at quarterback.
Kennesaw State finished 11-2 in 2021 and ranked 10th in the final AFCA coaches poll. The Owls recorded their fifth all-time playoff win and fourth consecutive fall season with 10-or-more victories. With his performance, Shepherd became the first quarterback in program history to win 11 of his first 12 starts.
