KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State women's soccer continues to challenge itself with its scheduling as the Owls will play a total of three teams that reached the NCAA Tournament a year ago and six total games against Top-100 RPI competition as part of their 2022 schedule that was released on Monday.

"We have set up one of the tougher schedules that I can recall in the past few years and that's exactly how we want it," said KSU head coach Benji Walton. "Each year we want to challenge our team in our non-conference format so that we are as prepared as possible for the ASUN Conference gauntlet. I like that we are measuring ourselves against some of the best mid-majors the Southeast has to offer including Sun Belt champion South Alabama and Sun Belt runner-up Georgia Southern. We are going to stretch our team vs. two SEC opponents with a home game against Georgia and on the road against Sweet Sixteen finisher Tennessee. This is the company we are trying to keep. I know it's going to be a battle every game, I know it's going to test us, but I wouldn't have it any other way."

After a road exhibition at Ole Miss from the SEC, the Owls will officially start the 2022 campaign by hosting South Alabama on Thursday, Aug. 18. KSU is then on the road for contests at Wofford (Aug. 21) and UAB (Aug. 25), before facing its first in-state opponent of the season with a Aug. 28 contest against Georgia State in Kennesaw.

Four more regional opponents await in the first two weeks of September, starting with a road contest at Presbyterian and a home match against the Georgia Bulldogs on Sept. 4. A second-straight game against SEC competition is the next challenge for the Owls, as they will go north to face Tennessee on Sept. 8. The non-conference slate concludes with a Sept. 11 home matchup against Georgia Southern.

The ASUN slate will be a challenge for the Owls, with a four-game road stretch in the middle of the schedule. The league opener will also be on the road for KSU, on Sept. 18 at Jacksonville State. That will be followed by the home opener against Queens on Sept. 22, and another home contest with Liberty on Sept. 25. Next will be the four-game road swing to North Florida (Sept. 29), Jacksonville (Oct. 2), North Alabama (Oct. 6) and Central Arkansas (Oct. 9).

KSU ends the ASUN schedule with three-straight at home, against Eastern Kentucky (Oct. 13), Bellarmine (Oct. 16) and the regular season finale against Stetson on Oct. 21.

The 2022 ASUN Tournament will be held on the last weekend of October, with the championship game slated for the first weekend in November.

Highlighting the returnees for KSU for 2022 is third-team all-region selection Ebony Clarke. She is one of five returning All-ASUN honorees, along with Kendall Higgs, Erin Miller, Marcie Rainwater and Aila Swinton, that helped the Owls reach the ASUN championship game for a third-straight season while posting a 9-8-2 overall record.
