Box Score

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Kennesaw State baseball suffered a walk-off loss at the hands of Florida Gulf Coast by a score of 7-6 on Sunday afternoon inside Swanson Stadium. After today's game, the Owls and Eagles sit tied for first place in the ASUN Conference Eastern Division with 7-2 records.

The Owls (18-9, 7-2 ASUN) entered the ninth inning down, 6-5. Nick Colina worked a leadoff walk and advanced to third on a base hit from Josh Hatcher. Tyler Simon evened the score with a sacrifice fly to left field.

For the second consecutive day, FGCU (20-8, 7-2 ASUN) ended the game in its final at-bat to secure the win. With two outs in the 10th, Stephen Wilmer hit a pinch-hit single to drive in the winning run from second base.

The Kennesaw State offense produced nine hits on the afternoon and were led by Simon who went 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI. The KSU shortstop has now posted 10 multi-hit performances on the season.

Hudson Mimbs continued his hot streak and recorded his fifth consecutive game with two-or-more hits. The second baseman finished 2-for-4 at the plate and has scored at least one run in the last nine contests.

It took until the ninth, but a single through the right-side extended Hatcher's hit streak to 22. The centerfielder registered a 1-for-3 afternoon with two walks. Hatcher has reached base safely with either a hit or a walk in each of the last 26 games.

Smith Pinson shined in relief and tossed a season-long 6.2 innings. The freshman set a new career-high with nine strikeouts and surrendered only two runs. Pinson walked only one batter on the afternoon.
