KSU Drops Regular-Season Finale

CONWAY, Ark. – Kennesaw State women's tennis dropped its final match to Central Arkansas 5-2 on Saturday afternoon. KSU ended its regular season with a record of 14-6 (4-5 ASUN Conference) and earned the #6 seed in the ASUN Women's Tennis Championships.

KSU Director of Tennis Matt Emery on the Match
"Credit to UCA for playing a really good match today, especially indoors. We started way too slow in the doubles, and that ended up costing us a critical point. We also doubted ourselves in a few spots, and that was the difference in those matches. Unfortunately, you can't give away that much against good teams on the road. We really should have learned that lesson by now, but hopefully this loss will just nail that point home one more time."

How it Happened
The Bears won the doubles point to take an early 1-0 lead. Sofia Pinedo/Sophia Unger were tied 3-3, but the set went unfinished when UCA secured two doubles matches.

In singles play, Kat Muzik  defeated Chunxi Xin 6-3, 6-2 on court one to tie the score at 1-1. Central Arkansas went on to win two singles matches before Ji Youn Lee was able to defeat her opponent 7-5, 6-2 and pull the score to 3-2. The Bears would win the last two singles matches to secure the overall victory.

Next Up
KSU will begin its quest towards the ASUN Conference championship in Fort Myers, Fla. The tournament is set to begin Apr. 22 and will conclude on Apr. 24 at the FGCU Tennis Complex.

"We came up short today," said Emery, "but I love where we are at going into the ASUN Tournament next weekend."
