FLORENCE, Ala. – Kennesaw State women's tennis clinched the final spot in the ASUN Conference Tournament after a 6-1 victory over North Alabama. With the win, the Owls hold an overall record of 14-5 (4-4 ASUN Conference) heading into the last match of the regular season.
"It was a great win today and we took care of business," said KSU grad transfer
Kat Muzik. "There's still a lot left to do this season and we are going to stay hungry for more wins. I'm very proud of this team for what we are accomplishing."
How it Happened
The Owls secured the doubles point with a 6-2 win from
Ji Youn Lee/
Valentina Taddia and a 6-4 victory from
Sofia Pinedo/
Sophia Unger.
In singles play, KSU won five of the six matches to secure the overall win over North Alabama. Muzik defeated Payton Andrews 6-0, 6-0, on court one. Pinedo followed suit defeating her opponent 6-0, 6-0. On court five, Unger secured the match victory for the Owls with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Makayla Loubser.
Ji Youn Lee defeated Gabriela Cevallos 6-0, 6-0 and
Taylor Dean was victorious over Sydney Flesch winning 7-5, 6-2 to push the overall score to 6-0 before UNA won the last singles point.
Next Up
KSU will finish the regular season this Saturday at Central Arkansas. Match time is set for 2:00 p.m. ET.
