ATLANTA, Ga. – The Kennesaw State softball team (10-18, 2-4 ASUN Conference) ended a four-game road trip with a 5-2 loss to in-state foe Georgia Tech (24-9, 5-7 ACC) Wednesday.
Both squads had slow starts offensively, with only one hit coming between the two teams through the first two innings.
Outfielder
Katie Greep broke the stalemate with an RBI single into left center to score
Ty Hardeman from second to give KSU a 1-0 lead in the third.
The Yellow Jackets did not record a hit until the bottom of the third, where they evened the score at one run apiece.
Georgia Tech added three runs the next inning to increase the deficit to 4-1.
Infielder
Taylor Cates struck in the top of the fifth, hitting a single to deep center to score Hardeman and cut the Jacket lead to 4-2.
The home team plated another run in the bottom of the fifth to push the deficit back out to three, 5-2.
Georgia Tech's pitching staff kept the Owls off the board for the remainder of the game.
Lindsey Kyte (0-4) pitched 3.1 innings and was credited with the loss.

KSU begins a four-game homestand on Saturday, April 2 with a doubleheader against Lipscomb for 'Youth Softball Day.' First pitch of game one is set for 1:00 p.m. Fans can catch all three games against the ASUN foe on the KSU Owl Network YouTube channel.
The Owls play three against the Bisons and finish the home stretch against the Mercer Bears on Wednesday, April 6 at 6:00 p.m. on ESPN+ for 'Student Appreciation Night.'
Admission is free for all Kennesaw State home softball games in 2022.
