KENNESAW, Ga. – For the fourth straight week and fifth time this season a Kennesaw State Owl was named the ASUN Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week, as
Chesslyn Lamar picked up her first career weekly honor the league office announced on Tuesday. Lamar is the second Owl to be named Player of the Week by the league this season, as
Siena Gore has been honored four times, while
Errin Crowe has one defensive weekly honor.
A senior attacker from Roswell, Lamar came off the bench to post a career-high performance, thanks to a personal-best four goals to help KSU to an 18-10 home victory over Gardner-Webb on March 26. Her four scores came off just five total shots for an 80% shot percentage, while all five of her shots were on goal. She added one caused turnover and one ground ball as well in the victory.
This continues a breakout season for Lamar, who now has 21 goals in 2022 after entering the year with 15 total in her first three seasons. With the win over the Running Bulldogs, the Owls have now tied the school record for wins in a season thanks to the team's best-ever start at 8-4.
NEXT TIME OUT: The Owls start ASUN Conference play on Saturday, April 2 at Stetson in Deland, Fla., with a 12 p.m. start.
