KENNESAW, Ga. – For the second straight week and the third time this season, Kennesaw State's
Siena Gore has been named the ASUN Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday. This is Gore's 12
th overall weekly honor from the conference.
Gore, a senior midfielder from Alpharetta, was almost a one-woman show against the Butler Bulldogs on March 13, scoring over 82% of the Owls' goals in a heartbreaking 12-11 loss to the BIG EAST squad.
She would finish the game with a career and school-record tying nine goals (out of 11 total for Kennesaw State). That tied the mark she has set twice before of nine scores in a game. Gore also notched 11 draw controls in the contest, just missing out on a double-double, and she also added two ground balls and a caused turnover in the game.
Her ninth and school-record tying goal came in a man-down situation that brought KSU back into a tie with Butler with just over three minutes left in the game. The Bulldogs escaped with the win after scoring 40 seconds later by taking advantage of a two-man up situation.
In addition to her heroics against Butler, she led the Owls with four goals, two ground balls and a caused turnover in a 16-5 win over Radford on March 8.
She is currently ranked second in the NCAA in total goals (38), third in goals per game (4.75), and tied eighth in draw controls per game (8.0).
