KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State men's tennis team picked up a 6-1 win over Chattanooga on Friday on the Betty Siegel Courts. The match was the Owls (4-2) home opener for the 2022 season.
"We did a great job again in doubles today and I thought we competed well at every spot in singles," Director of Tennis
Matt Emery said. "When we do that, it usually translates to a team win like today."
KSU won the doubles point and picked up five singles wins to clinch the victory.
The Owls won the doubles point picking up wins on courts two and three.
Seru Tezuka and
Kevin Patel rolled to a 6-0 win over Quinten Nevenhoven and Kaisei Kuroki on court three.
Matthew Terry and
Hugo Salmeron downed Kerim Hyatt and Simon Labbe 6-1 to clinch the point.
Salmeron extended the KSU lead to 2-0 with a quick 6-2, 6-3 win over Jacob Marshall.
Raul Garcia downed Labbe 6-2, 6-4 to push the lead to 3-1. After dropping his opening set, Tezuka bounced back with a 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 win over Ryan Mudre to clinch the match for the Owls.
Matthew Terry moved his record to 6-0 at No. 1 with a 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 win over Tomas Rodriguez. Patel held off Nevenhoven 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 to close out the match.
The Owls will host Georgia State on Friday, Feb. 25 at 5 p.m.
