Owls Collect 6-1 Win Over Chattanooga on Friday

KENNESAW, Ga. –
Ā The Kennesaw State men's tennis team picked up a 6-1 win over Chattanooga on Friday on the Betty Siegel Courts. The match was the Owls (4-2) home opener for the 2022 season.

"We did a great job again in doubles today and I thought we competed well at every spot in singles," Director of Tennis Matt Emery said. "When we do that, it usually translates to a team win like today."

KSU won the doubles point and picked up five singles wins to clinch the victory.Ā 
Ā 
The Owls won the doubles point picking up wins on courts two and three. Seru Tezuka and Kevin Patel rolled to a 6-0 win over Quinten Nevenhoven and Kaisei Kuroki on court three. Matthew Terry and Hugo Salmeron downed Kerim Hyatt and Simon Labbe 6-1 to clinch the point.

Salmeron extended the KSU lead to 2-0 with a quick 6-2, 6-3 win over Jacob Marshall. Raul Garcia downed Labbe 6-2, 6-4 to push the lead to 3-1. After dropping his opening set, Tezuka bounced back with a 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 win over Ryan Mudre to clinch the match for the Owls. Matthew Terry moved his record to 6-0 at No. 1 with a 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 win over Tomas Rodriguez. Patel held off Nevenhoven 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 to close out the match.

The Owls will host Georgia State on Friday, Feb. 25 at 5 p.m.
