KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State football defensive back Deontre Morris was named to the HERO Sports Sophomore All-American Team, the outlet announced Thursday. The award marks the second-consecutive season an Owl earned HERO Sports All-American honors after quarterback Xavier Shepherd placed on the first team last season.
 
Morris, a 2022 All-ASUN Conference Defensive selection, put together an impressive year in the backend of the KSU defense. The sophomore played in 10 games with nine starts at safety and was tied for the team-high in interceptions (5).
 
The Atlanta native tallied 50 tackles (32 solo) which was good for second on the team. The sophomore also added six pass break-ups, one fumble recovery and was a main contributor for the KSU defense that caused a turnover in 10 of its 11 games this year.  
 
Morris was one of five ASUN players selected to the All-Sophomore team, joining ShunDerrick Powell (North Alabama), Drae McCray (Austin Peay), Braedon Sloan (Eastern Kentucky) and Tamuarion Wilson (Central Arkansas).
