Softball Schedule Set for 2023 Season

KENNESAW, Ga. – Entering his fifth season at the helm of Kennesaw State softball, head coach Tripp MacKay revealed the full 2023 schedule Monday.

The '23 slate features 20 home games inside Bailey Park, including home contests against Samford, Mercer and Southern Mississippi. Georgia Tech comes to town for Lexi's Day on Tuesday, March 28.

KSU will face five new opponents this season and six teams that made the 2022 NCAA Regionals. The road slate features contests against Georgia Tech, Alabama, UCF and Georgia.

A trip to Montgomery, Ala. opens the schedule for the Alabama State tournament on Feb. 10-12. The Owls are set to face Tennessee Tech and UT Martin across the three days. KSU is 11-10 against the Golden Eagles and 3-1 against the Skyhawks in each series.

The home schedule at Bailey Park begins on Wednesday, Feb. 15 against Mercer at 5:00 p.m. KSU defeated the Bears twice last season, including a 7-6 thriller in Macon. This marks the Bears' first trip to Kennesaw since 2014.

KSU travels to Troy, Ala. for a three-day tournament on Feb. 17-19 for two contests against Murray State and three against host-school Troy. The series against the Trojans is even at six games apiece, while the Owls and Murray State have only met once before in a 7-0 KSU victory in 2016.

Kennesaw State looks to pick up its fifth all-time win in Atlanta during a midweek trip to Georgia Tech at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21.

The Owls head to Tuscaloosa, Ala. for a three-day tournament starting on Friday, Feb. 24. KSU is set to face Alabama, Indiana State and Southeastern Louisiana. The matchup marks the first-ever contest for KSU softball against the Crimson Tide and Lions. Indiana State is 0-2 all-time against the Owls.

KSU returns home for a midweek against Samford on Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 5:00 p.m. The Owls are 10-5 in the series against the Bulldogs and is 5-2 at Bailey Park.

Two days later, the Owls begin the I-75 Challenge on Thursday, March 2 through Saturday, March 4 against Northern Iowa, Southern Mississippi and Brown. KSU leads the series 4-1 against the Eagles and is set to face Brown for the first time in program history.

The Black and Gold then travel to Statesboro for the first time since 2019 to face Georgia Southern on Tuesday, March 7. KSU is 17-11 all-time against the Eagles, including 7-6 on the road.

Kennesaw State's final regular season tournament of 2023 begins on Friday, March 10 at the UCF Round Robin against North Dakota, Toledo and UCF. KSU will meet North Dakota and Toledo for the first time. The Owls trail 2-3 in the series against UCF, who lost to eventual National Champion Oklahoma in the Super Regionals last season.

The Owls then open ASUN play against Austin Peay on March 17-19 for a three-day series.

An in-state showdown against the Georgia Bulldogs is set for Wednesday, March 22 in Athens at 5:00 p.m. KSU is seeking its first win in the series against the Classic City foes.

Eastern Kentucky travels to Bailey Park on March 24-26 to open the home conference schedule.

Following the series against the Colonels, Georgia Tech rides up I-75 for Lexi's Day on Tuesday, March 28 at 6:00 p.m.

After the midweek against the Yellow Jackets, KSU has four-straight ASUN weekends against Liberty (March 31 – Apr. 2), North Alabama (Apr. 7-8), Jacksonville (Apr. 14-16), and Lipscomb (Apr. 22-23).

The final midweek of the season features a trip to Homewood, Ala. on Wednesday, Apr. 26 against the Samford Bulldogs.

The 2023 regular season closes out with conference series against Bellarmine (Apr. 28-30) and FGCU (May 6-7). Click here for more details on the 2023 ASUN Conference regular season schedule.

The 2023 ASUN Conference Tournament begins Tuesday, May 9 through Saturday, May 13 in DeLand, Fla. hosted by Stetson University. The Owls finished fourth in the event last season.
