ATLANTA, Ga. – After earning a 44-27 victory on the road at No. 15 UT-Martin, Kennesaw State football had two players selected as ASUN Conference Players of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Xavier Shepherd collected the Offensive Player of the Week honor while Chance Gamble took home the Defensive Player of the Week award.

The award marks the first ASUN weekly accolade for both Shepherd and Gamble and is the eighth for KSU football this season.

Shepherd registered a season-high five total touchdowns on the afternoon. The Nashville native finished with 86 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 32 carries. The game marked the quarterback's sixth career game with three rushing touchdowns. Shepherd also went 3-of-8 through the air with 123 passing yards and two scores.

Gamble led the Owls' defense with a career-high eight tackles (seven solo) and three interceptions. The sophomore tied the Kennesaw State record with three picks in a game (Donte Blackmon, 2016 at Duquesne) and set a program record for longest interception return for a touchdown (89 yards).

KSU football is back inside Fifth Third Bank Stadium this Saturday as the team squares off with Austin Peay in its final home game of the regular season. The contest will be the Owls' annual Senior Day and Military Appreciation game. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. and will be broadcasted live on ESPN+. Click here to purchase tickets.
