KENNESAW, Ga. - Quincy Ademokoya is one of the new members of the Nest after transferring from Temple in the offseason, and has hopes of being a key contributor to the Owls' success this season.
Although he is from Bloomington, Ill., Ademokoya is no stranger to Georgia, having attended Dacula High School and then Norcross High School. He first helped the Falcons reach the 2019 Georgia High School Association playoffs and then aided in the Blue Devils' 26-4, 12-0 Class 7A Region 7 record.
"I've got a lot of family and friends from high school, and it's been all love since coming back," Ademokoya said. "I feel the energy is the same as when I left for Philadelphia, and it's been nothing but love."
Ademokoya competed in 28 games between his freshman and sophomore year at Temple, scoring a season-high of nine points his freshman year, and another season-high of 15 points in 35 minutes in a road contest at Tulane his sophomore year.
Before Ademokoya decided to take his game to the next level at Temple, head coach
Amir Abdur-Rahim had his eyes on the young player as early as his sophomore year at Dacula.
"It's crazy how things kind of come full circle," Abdur-Rahim said. "When the opportunity arose when he put his name in the transfer portal, just being familiar with him as a person, knowing who he was from a character standpoint, then also loving who he was as a player, it was a no-brainer for us. We just happened to need somebody with his skillset, so it worked out perfect for both of us."
"I was fascinated by his loyalty. That was a big factor," Ademokoya said when discussing his decision to attend KSU and compete for Adbur-Rahim. "He recruited me while he was at (the University of) Georgia and then recruited me before I made my decision to go to Temple. Then I recently entered the portal and he hit me up again."
"His merge has been seamless to be honest. He fits our style of play very well in what we want from a guy," Abdur-Rahim said. "We look at him as a big guard that can play multiple positions."
Ademokoya, standing at 6-foot-6, wearing number 24, wants fans to know the 2022-23 season will be a winning one.
"We're improving steadily as the years go by," Ademokoya said. "The biggest goal is to just win as many games as you can and put on a show for the Owls."
Ademokoya has had a strong debut for his new squad, as he currently ranks sixth on the team in scoring with 6.5 points per game, including a career-high tying 15 against Brewton-Parker. He also made key plays off the bench in the wins over both SE Louisiana and Appalachian State.
"I'm honestly pumped," Ademokoya said. "I'm back in Georgia, I'm under a really good group of guys that trust me to put the ball in the hoop and do what I need to do, so I'm excited."
