KENNESAW, Ga. – Fresh off a season-opening 43-point win over LaGrange on Monday night, Kennesaw State is now set for its first road test of the season as the Owls will take on the Florida Gators on Friday night in the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
Â
A FEW NOTES
♦ While this is KSU's first trip to Gainesville, Owl head coach
Amir Abdur-Rahim is not a stranger to the O'Connell Center, having been an assistant coach on the basketball staffs at both Texas A&M (2014-18) and Georgia (2018-19) before taking over the program in Kennesaw.
♦ All-time the Owls are 0-10 against the SEC, and this will be KSU's first game against the conference since a road loss at Georgia on Nov. 27, 2018.
♦ The Owls have high hopes entering the season, as they return all five starters from last year's squad that set new program highs for both NET and KenPom rankings while coming just one win short of matching the school's Division I win record.
♦ KSU features four new scholarship players this season, highlighted by freshman Simeon Cottle of College Park, Ga., and Temple transfer Quincy Ademokoya. Cottle scored 11 points in his first career game against LaGrange, while Ademokoya added eight points in the LaGrange victory.
♦ Last year's squad was one of the highest scoring teams in school history, as the Owls averaged 74.8 points per game, just behind the school record 75.0 ppg posted by the 2016-17 squad.
