KSU Welcomes Austin Peay on Senior Day at Fifth Third Bank Stadium

KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State football hosts Austin Peay on Saturday for its final home contest of the regular season. The game will be the Owls' Senior Day and the program's annual Military Appreciation Day. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. and will be broadcasted live on ESPN+.

Top Storylines 
  • Kennesaw State and Austin Peay are set for the first matchup in series history this Saturday. The Owls enter the contest with a 4-1 record at home, while the Governors hold a 2-2 road record this season.
  • Through its first nine games of 2022, the KSU defense has forced 24 turnovers. Last week against No. 15 UT-Martin, the Owls swiped a school-record five interceptions. The team has now forced a turnover in 16-straight games which marks the second-longest streak in program history (22).
  • The Kennesaw State offense has scored a point in 90-straight games and has reached the double-digit mark in each of its last 68 contests. The last time the Owls scored less than 10 points was in November of 2016.
  • Last Saturday, KSU cornerback Chance Gamble tied the Kenesaw State record with three interceptions against the Skyhawks. Gamble went on to earn the FedEx Ground National Defensive Player of the Week award and was named the ASUN Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
  • Xavier Shepherd recorded five total touchdowns last weekend and was named the ASUN Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the first time this season. The Nashville native finished with 86 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 32 carries. He also went 3-of-8 through the air with 123 passing yards and two scores.
  • The Owls enter week 11 in the top-3 in multiple FCS categories. The team currently ranks first in the nation in turnovers gained (24), second in fewest penalty yards (266) and passes intercepted (14) and third in average time of possession (35:07).
 
Numbers to Know 
  • 77 - The Owls have rushed for 150+ yards in 77-straight games versus FCS opponents dating back to week 11 of the 2015 season. 
  • 44 - KSU has won each of the last 44 games when it scores 32 points and is 47-1 all-time when reaching that mark. 
  • 26 - Kennesaw State is 26-14 all-time when playing a team for the first time.
  • 9 - KSU's 44-27 upset win over No. 15 UT-Martin marked the Owls' ninth all-time win over a ranked team.
  • 5 - In its 88 games, KSU has only been out-rushed five times.
 
Best Ever  
No other start-up program in college football history had more wins in its first five seasons than Kennesaw State with 48 victories. 
 
Dynasty Mode  
Dating back to week two of the 2017 season, Kennesaw State has won 54 of its last 67 games for an .806 winning percentage. 
 
Minute Men  
In their first eight seasons, the Owls have 71 scoring drives of one minute or less, including a program-best 17 in 2019. Thus far in 2022, KSU has produced seven scoring drives of one minute or less.
 
On The Move
On October 14th, Kennesaw State formally accepted an invitation to join Conference USA, effective July 1, 2024. When the Owls move to C-USA, it will mark the 10th season of Kennesaw State football. 
 
Owl Walk
The team will be dropped off on Busbee Drive at the entrance to the green lot two hours before kickoff. Led by the band and spirit squads, head coach Brian Bohannon will escort the Owls off the buses and into the stadium.
 
Owl Town
A free pregame tailgate is back for Owl fans of all ages beginning 2.5 hours before kickoff. Live bands, free food from J.D.'s BBQ, sponsor tents, and more will stretch George Busbee Parkway to add to the gameday atmosphere.
 
Premium Seat Entrance
There is a new premium entrance available for all loge, indoor and concourse suite holders. The entrance will be available at the Georgia Natural Gas Gate and is located at the farthest left lane for easy access into the stadium.
 
Military Appreciation Game
The Kennesaw State football team will recognize this weekend's event against Austin Peay as a Military Appreciation Day. All veterans and active-duty personnel will receive free admission to the game with a current military ID. Families of these groups will be allowed to purchase tickets for $5.
 
Senior Day
Kennesaw State football will be recognizing 13 of its seniors prior to kickoff on Saturday. The class holds a .776 winning percentage with a record of 38-11 over the past four fall seasons. The seniors have also been a part of three FCS Playoff appearances in 2018 (quarterfinals), 2019 (second round) and 2021 (second round).
 
Hoot Out Hunger
KSU Athletics, in partnership with CARE Services and the Division of Global Affairs, is participating in the Hoot Out Hunger donation drive. There are three ways that fans can donate: online, at sporting events and at CARE bins located on the Kennesaw State and Marietta Campus.

Items that can be donated include non-refrigerated meals, canned foods, rice, and spices. Consider donating gluten-free, vegan, low-sodium and dairy-free products that will provide a full, healthy meal to whoever eats it.
