KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State's Manu Johnsen became the first Owl to earn ASUN Volleyball Freshman of the Week honors since the spring of 2021 as she was selected by the league office on Monday after an outstanding weekend on the court for KSU.
Johnsen, an outside hitter from Copenhagen, Denmark, was almost unstoppable in her two games over the weekend, leading the Owls to a 3-1 win over Stetson and a tight 3-1 loss to FGCU. She began by posting her second career double-double with season-highs in kills with 20 and digs with 16 in the win over the Hatters on Oct. 28. Johnsen also added one ace and two blocks in the victory. Against FGCU the next night, Johnsen nearly helped the Owls pull off the win over the preseason favorites, again leading KSU in both kills (17) and digs (11). This marked her first career back-to-back games with double-doubles, and she tallied three blocks as well. For the week, Johnsen had 37 kills and a 4.63 kps average, 27 digs and a 3.38 dps average, two aces and five blocks while hitting .286.
NEXT TIME OUT: The Owls are on the road for a pair of games in Tennessee, starting with Friday's 7 pm contest at new ASUN member Austin Peay in Clarksville. That will be followed by Saturday's 7 pm contest in Nashville against Lipscomb.
