KENNESAW, Ga. – For the second time this season, Kennesaw State saw two Owls earn weekly honors as Dani Ballou was named the ASUN Volleyball Player of the Week while McKinley Ferguson was tabbed as the ASUN Setter of the Week. This is the first weekly honor in Ballou's career, while Ferguson picks up her third recognition in the past four weeks. The duo led the Owls to a 2-0 weekend to keep KSU in first-place in the ASUN at 7-1, while overall the team is 14-4 with a RPI of 35.
Ballou, a senior outside hitter from Clearwater, Fla., is having a career season for the Owls, and currently leads the team and is fifth in the ASUN with 3.37 kills per set, while also ranking fourth in service aces (0.41 spag). This weekend, she averaged an impressive 4.71 kps, as her 18 kills against Bellarmine on Oct. 14 were her most since 2019, and she also added three aces, eight digs and hit .410 in that victory. In the 3-0 sweep over Eastern Kentucky on Oct. 15, Ballou added 15 kills, nine digs and three blocks.
Ferguson, a junior from Jasper, Ala., continues to do it all for the Owls in her setter role. She notched 40+ assists in both of the victories, and averaged 12.57 aps for the weekend. That included 42 assists for a 14.0 aps in the 3-0 win over EKU. For the two-game homestand, she also added 11 digs, four blocks, six kills and four aces. She currently paces the ASUN in conference games only in both assists (11.71 agp) and aces (0.61 sapg).
NEXT TIME OUT: The Owls will play a pair of games in Jacksonville, Fla., starting with a Friday, 4 pm contest at Jacksonville University. That will be followed by Saturday's 8 pm contest against North Florida. Both matches will be played in Swisher Gymnasium on the JU campus.
