KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women's soccer team lost 4-0 to Boston College on Sunday afternoon at Fifth Third Bank Stadium in Kennesaw, Ga.
"We played a tough opponent," said head coach
Benji Walton. I thought we came out well. We had a couple mistakes that we have to work through and grow from, but I'm proud of the fight that we had out there. I think we're still learning who we are as a team right now and a game like this is valuable for us going down the road."
Dylan Pixton was able to rack up four saves before halftime, including a jumping extension on a curling shot from thirty yards out.
Junior backup
AJ Needham appeared between the sticks for the Owls in the second half and was a calming presence for the Kennesaw State defense.
Walton on Needham…
"Both her and Dylan have been playing well. They battle every week and it's an open competition between those two. AJ's done a great job. It's valuable experience for her, going in against a big opponent. Getting tested, reading the offense coming at her and organizing the defense. You can't replicate that enough in practice. I'm really glad for her and she's earned that opportunity.
The Owls continue their long homestand with a Friday-night matchup against Mercer at 7 p.m in Fifth Third Bank Stadium.
