Live Stats
The Kennesaw State women's soccer squad is really starting to hit its stride, setting out down Interstate-75 searching for its third win in a row against the Georgia State Panthers on a Friday night fight at 7 p.m. at the GSU Soccer Field.
Head coach
Benji Walton is extremely happy with his squad after their last two wins against the College of Charleston and Samford; there's no one he's more happy with than
Kathryn Schreck.
Switching between left back and the left wing, Schreck ended her week with two significant contributions in the Owls' two wins.
Against College of Charleston, the redshirt senior scored the first goal of her collegiate career off an indirect set piece in the Cougars' box. It was the ASUN Preseason All-Conference selection's cross that was headed on by
Macie Rainwater to take the victory over the Samford Bulldogs the following Sunday.
The Pope High School graduate currently leads the squad with three points.
Last Time vs. Georgia State
Kennesaw State soccer has had much success against the Panthers over the team's history and is currently on a three-game win streak over Georgia State.
The last time this fixture took place, then-KSU freshman
Becky Contreras scored her first goal as an Owl in a 4-1 drubbing of the Atlanta, Ga. side.
Taking a double-overtime tie into consideration, Kennesaw State haven't lost to Georgia State since Aug. 24, 2015.
First Time for Everything
It was Rainwater's first goal of her career that secured the win against Samford, but the freshman isn't the only one celebrating her first goal in black and gold.
All five of the goals scored by KSU in the 2021 fall season have been driven over the line by different goal scorers and none of them have scored for the Owls before.
Caeden Price transferred to Kennesaw State as a defensive standout from Coastal Carolina, but found herself in a forward position when she found the bottom corner for an equalizer against Samford last Sunday.
Lexi Labonte started off her final campaign under Walton memorably, scoring the overtime winner against the College of Charleston.
Junior
Erin Miller got on the scoresheet for the first time after pouncing on a loose ball in the box against UAB in the team's home opener.
Next Match
Following the team's quick road trip, the Owls return to the nest to take on Boston College for the first time in program history on Sunday, Sept. 5 at 12 p.m. in Fifth Third Bank Stadium.
