The Kennesaw State women's soccer team is ecstatic to be returning to the pitch after two weeks, celebrating the squad's seniors in a Sunday showdown against Wofford at Fifth Third Bank Stadium.
The afternoon affair is the Owls' first match since Sept. 5 against Boston College, as Mercer's visit to the nest scheduled for last Friday was canceled due to COVID-19 issues in KSU's program.Â
Seven graduating players will be honored in a pre-match ceremony, including: Kathryn Schreck, Danielle Vos, Sydney Sauer, Jenna Vollrath, Dylan Pixton, Lexi Labonte and Kendall Higgs.
When It Rains, She Scores
Freshman forward Macie Rainwater has made quite an impression in her first handful of games under head coach Benji Walton, becoming the first Owl to score a second goal on the season with a calm finish against Georgia State.Â
The hometown hero from Kennesaw, Ga. is tenacious in her play, never giving up on a pass nor afraid to put a tackle in.Â
Her coach has rewarded her early success, as Walton has given her 177 minutes of play over the last two games.Â
Durable Dekker
As Walton waits for valuable pieces to fully recover from injuries, one of his Owls has played every-single minute of this season's campaign.
Junior Hayley Dekker's stamina has led her to become the one unchanged component in the Kennesaw State back four this year.
It's not anything that the Columbus, Ga. native isn't used to; the 2019 ASUN All-Freshman selection has been a consistent selection to the starting-11 all three of her years at Kennesaw State.Â
Next Match
The Owls' third match in their four-game homestand comes in the form of the North Alabama Lions, welcoming the Florence, Ala. squad to Fifth Third Bank Stadium on Thursday, Sep. 23 at 7 p.m.
