ATLANTA, Ga. - The Kennesaw State football team fell to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 45-17 at Bobby Dodd Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The game was the first matchup against a Power Five school in Owls' football history.
Kennesaw State rallied in the second half, scoring on back-to-back drives to start the fourth quarter.
Iaan Cousin broke off a 54-yard run to score his first career touchdown. This score extends the Owls' streak of consecutive games with a rushing touchdown to 59.
Immediately after scoring, the Owls recovered an onside kick. This was the first recovered onside kick since the 2021 spring season, when the Owls recovered an onside attempt against Dixie State on Mar. 20. Following the onside recovery, quarterback
Xavier Shepherd found
Adeolu Adeleke for a 39-yard touchdown pass, capping off a 90Â second drive. Shepherd finished the day 8-for-20 with 111 passing yards.
Adding to the scoring was senior kicker
Nathan Robertson. Robertson tied his career long with a field goal of 46 yards. The kick tied the school record which was previously set by Robertson in 2019 against Charleston Southern.

Kennesaw State football is back in action next week as it takes on the Wofford Terriers in Spartanburg, S.C., on Saturday, Sept. 18. Kickoff is set for 6:00pm and will be the third matchup between the two teams. Kennesaw State currently holds a 2-0 lead in the all-time series.
