KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State men's basketball head coach Amir Abdur-Rahim announced the addition of Jamir Moultrie to the roster Friday morning.
A dangerous weapon from beyond-the-arc, the 5-11, 180-pound guard transfers to KSU after playing last season for North Carolina Central.
"We are very excited to add Jamir to our program. In talking with Jamir during the recruiting process and hearing how he has grown throughout his collegiate experience to mature into the man he is today has me excited about what he'll bring to our program," said Abdur-Rahim. "Ability-wise, Jamir is a natural scorer who can finish at all three levels, but what makes him invaluable between the lines is his ability to shoot the ball from three. Overall, Jamir will be a great fit for our program and we look forward to helping achieve all of his goals both on and off the court.
Moultire made five starts as a redshirt-junior last season and played in 11 games. He led the MEAC with a 44.4 percent success rate from three, including knocking down 20 three-pointers. The Washington, D.C. native averaged 9.7 points per game, and a 78.9-percent clip from the free throw line. Moultrie scored in double-digits five times, including a season-high 16 points against South Carolina State on Feb. 2.
Prior to NCCU, Moultrie played in 37 games with three starts for La Salle, totaling 178 points over 440 minutes. He shot 38.5 percent from the floor and 37.6 from the perimeter in two years.
A former four-star recruit from Bishop McNamara, he was rated the 11th-best player in the state of Maryland by ESPN.com in the class of 2017 and helped his squad to two state Final Four appearances.
