TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- The Kennesaw State softball team fell 6-2 to No. 8 Florida State on the JoAnne Graf Field at the Seminole Softball Complex in the NCAA Tallahassee Regional on Friday night.
KSU started quick scoring in the top of the first inning after an RBI fielder's choice from
Lexi Solorzano scored
Brea Dickey to put the Owls on the board 1-0.
FSU threatened in the bottom of the first, second and fourth innings but the Owls defense held strong allowing no runs.
KSU extended its lead to 2-0 in the top of the fifth inning after
Raleigh Williams reached on a Seminoles fielding error to score pinch runner
Hope Jiles.
FSU responded in the bottom of the fifth inning scoring three runs off an RBI single and two bases loaded walks to take the lead 4-2.
The Seminoles added two insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth inning off an Owls error to secure a 6-2 victory over the Owls.
Melanie Bennett (19-12) suffered the loss after going a complete game, giving up six runs on eight hits while striking out one.
Danielle Watson (9-1) collected the win after 2.1 innings, allowing no runs on one hit while striking out two.
