TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- The Kennesaw State softball team secured its first ever NCAA Regional win defeating Auburn, 1-0, on the JoAnne Graf Field Saturday afternoon before closing out its 2021 season falling to UCF, 2-0, Saturday evening.

After a quick one-two-three inning for Auburn, KSU got on the board after
Taylor Cates grounded into a double play but still managed to plate
Brea Dickey after her lead-off double to take an early 1-0 lead.
The Tigers looked to respond in the top of the second and third innings, but the Owls' defense held strong not giving up any runs to secure the program's first NCAA Regional win.
Melanie Bennett (20-12) pitched an absolute gem going all seven innings, allowing no runs on one hit while striking out two.
Shelby Lowe (13-11) suffered the loss after six innings of work, giving up one run on six hits while striking out three.
Game 2 | UCF 2, Kennesaw State 0
UCF got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after an RBI single up the middle scored Jada Cody to take an early 1-0 lead.
The Knights extended their lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the second inning after an Owl error allowed Shannon Doherty to go home.
KSU looked to respond in the top of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings leaving a total of four Owls stranded. KSU would get two runners on in the top of the seventh inning after
Faith Alexander singled up the middle and
Christen Florence doubled to left center field, but the Owls could not bring any runners home, ultimately falling to UCF, 2-0.
Lindsey Kyte (5-7) suffered the loss after 3.1 innings, giving up two runs on four hits while striking out one.
Alea White (22-7) secured the win after tossing a complete game allowing no runs on seven hits while striking out one.
