KENNESAW, Ga-Â The Kennesaw State softball team fell victim to No. 20 Georgia at Bailey Park on Wednesday night.
How it Happened
After three scoreless frames, the Owls took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning thanks to a solo shot over the left center field fence from Cheyenne Sales.
The Bulldogs responded in the top of the fifth inning with an RBI double to left field and a two-run home run to take the lead 3-1.
KSU looked to respond in the bottom of the sixth inning when Sales doubled down the left field line, but the Bulldogs defense was able to close the door on the Owls.
Mary Wilson Avant (13-3) secured the win tossing a complete game, giving up one run on four hits while striking out six.
Melanie Bennett (11-9) suffered the loss after 7.0 innings, giving up three runs on six hits while striking out six.
