ATLANTA- The Kennesaw State softball team fell to Georgia Tech 3-2 on Sunday afternoon at Mewborn Field.
KSU (22-20, 10-2) got on the board early after a leadoff home run on the first pitch of the game from
Brea Dickey.
The Yellow Jackets (15-25, 7-19) responded with an RBI single up the middle and a sacrifice fly to take the lead 2-1.
The Owls would load the bases in the top of the third inning after a single to the shortstop from Dickey, a double through the left side from
Christen Florence and a free base after
Lexi Solorzano was hit by pitch but the Jackets defense was able to close the door on allowing any runs. GT extended its lead 3-1 in the bottom of the third inning after a solo shot from Emma Kauf.
KSU pulled within one in the top of the fifth inning thanks to another leadoff home run from Dickey to cut the Yellow Jackets lead 3-2.
The Owls looked to tie the game up in the top of the seventh inning thanks to a single up the middle from Florence, but GT defense held strong to secure the 3-2 victory over the Owls.
Blake Neleman (9-7) collected the win after 5.0 innings of work, giving up two runs on four hits while striking out four. Madison McPherson secured the save after 2.0 innings, giving up no runs on one hit while striking out one.
Lindsey Kyte (4-4) suffered the loss after 3.0 innings, giving up three runs on two hits while striking out two.

The Owls close out the 2021 regular season with a three-game series against Liberty at Bailey Park beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday (May 1) at 1 p.m.
