KENNESAW- Ga.- The Kennesaw State softball team defeated Georgia State 8-0 on Wednesday night at Bailey Park.
After two scoreless frames, the Owls (21-19, 10-2) took a 4-0 lead after a two-run home run from
Lexi Solorzano over the left field wall and a two-run double to left center field from
Katie Greep.
KSU extended their lead by three with two outs on the board thanks to a two-run home run from
Cheyanne Sales and an RBI double down the right field line from Greep to score
Raleigh Williams.
The Panthers (14-21, 2-14) attempted to get on the board in the top of the fifth thanks to an infield single from Emily Brown, but the Owls defense was able to leave a runner stranded.
An RBI single in the bottom of the fifth inning from
Christen Florence would end the game in a run-rule victory.
Melanie Bennett (15-9) tossed a complete game shutout allowing only five hits while striking out five.
Sophie Mooney (6-9) suffered the loss after 3.0 inning, giving up four runs on eight hits while striking out one.
