KENNESAW, Ga. – On the heels of an ASUN Conference quarterfinal victory against Bellarmine University, Kennesaw State is set for a showdown with FGCU in the semifinal round of the conference tournament Thursday at Fifth Third Bank Stadium. The match is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN+.

The Owls (7-7-0, 5-3-0 ASUN) and Eagles (7-2-2, 4-2-0) both earned their division's No.2 seed in the conference tournament.

In the quarterfinal win, Becky Contreras scored the lone goal for the Owls at the 87:35 mark, with the 2019 ASUN Freshman of the Year heading in a corner kick from defender Kathryn Schreck.

The Owls got 12 shots off with five on target while the Knights had six shots with two on goal. Contreras finished the game with six shots and three on goal followed by Kelsey Hahn who logged two shots.

KSU may be playing its best soccer at the right time of the season. The team's lone loss over the last 30 days came in overtime against Lipscomb Mar. 28. Meanwhile, the Owls have won six of their last seven matches against ASUN opponents.

KSU enters the postseason tied for third in the ASUN with 56 saves and fourth with 149 shots. Forward Erin Harris ranks fifth with 30 shots and sixth with her five goals. Goalkeeper Dylan Pixton's 50 saves is good for fourth in the ASUN.

Despite not meeting in the regular season, both squads have an exciting history. In the 2019 ASUN semifinals, KSU erased a 2-0 halftime deficit and advanced on penalty kicks, 2-1. Contreras, the ASUN Freshman of the Year, scored in the 52nd minute to start the comeback, and later converted the deciding penalty kick.
