Owls Set to Tussle With Wildcats and 49ers

Match Preview
The Kennesaw State women's tennis team returns to actions with two consecutive road matches this week. The Owls will play at Davidson on Wednesday, March 10 at 4 p.m. in Davidson, N.C. KSU will then head to Charlotte, North Carolina to face Charlotte on Thursday, March 11 at 11 a.m.

Scouting Davidson
The Wildcats are 3-4 overall and 0-1 in conference play this season. Mira Gladstone leads Davidson in singles at 4-3 playing primarily at No. 3.

Scouting Charlotte
The 49ers are 10-4 on the season with losses against No. 1 North Carolina, No. 6 Duke, No.16 Wake Forrest and No. 23 Furman. Kaavya Sawhney and Ruxi Schech lead CLT in doubles with a 10-1 record at No. 1.

The Series
Wednesday and Thursday's match against Davidson and Charlotte marks the second meeting between the programs. The Wildcats secured a 4-3 win over KSU in Feb. 2020. The 49ers defeated the Owls 7-0 in Feb. 2007.

The Last Time Out
The Kennesaw State women's tennis team defeated Chattanooga 6-1 on Sunday on the Betty Siegel Courts. The win was the Owls first over the Mocs in program history.
 
KSU picked up the doubles point and five singles matches to secure the victory.

The Owls picked up the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. On court one Paola Cortez and Ji Youn Lee defeated Emma Van Heel and Caroline Gibbens 6-3. On court two Taylor Dean and Valentina Taddia clinched the point over Jessie Young and Bogdana Zaporozhets 6-4.

Soomin Kim got the Owls going in singles with a win straight sets over Grace Anne Dunavant 6-1, 6-1 on court six. KSU extended their lead at court five when Sofia Pinedo defeated Callie Billman in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 and on court two when Ji Youn Lee defeated Emma Van Heel 6-1, 6-1.  

UTC picked up their only singles win on court four. Taylor Dean and Valentina Taddia each won their matches in three sets.

Next Up
The Owls host Mercer on Sunday (Mar. 14) at 12 p.m. on the Betty Siegel Courts.
