ORLANDO, Fla. – The Kennesaw State softball team split the final two games of a three-game series against No. 22 Central Florida.
GAME 1 | Central Florida 7, Kennesaw State 4
The Knights started quick scoring with one run in the bottom of the first inning.
UCF extended their lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the third thanks to a two-run homerun to left center field from Juliana Wilson.
KSU responded with a bases clearing three-run double from
Christen Florence to tie the game at 3-3.
The Knights collected three more in the fourth and fifth frames from a two-run home run and a throw down that allowed Juliana Wilson to cross home plate.
The Owls cut the UCF lead by two with an RBI single from
Lexi Solorzano in the top of the sixth inning.
UCF was able to add one more to their lead in the bottom of the sixth to secure the 7-4 victory.
Peyton Elzey (0-2) suffered the loss. She went 4.0 innings and struck out two.
Kristen Davis stepped in for relief in the bottom of the fifth inning. Davis pitched 2.0 innings, giving up one run on three hits.
Alea White (7-0) collected the win for the Knights going 7.0 innings, giving up four runs on six hits while striking out seven.
GAME 2 | Kennesaw State 8, Central Florida 1
KSU took a quick lead in the top of the first with an RBI groundout from
Lexi Solorzano.
The Owls added four insurance runs in the top of the second with a pair of two-run singles from
Brea Dickey and
Christen Florence.
After a pair of scoreless innings UCF put up one run on an RBI groundout from Katie Burge.
KSU extended their lead by three in the top of the sixth thanks to a one-run single from
Cheyanne Sales, an RBI groundout to the shortstop from
Taylor Cates to score Dickey and a bases-loaded walk from Solorzano to secure an 8-1 victory over UCF.
Melanie Bennett (5-4) collected the win going all seven innings, allowing only one run on six hits whle striking out four.
Grace Jewell suffered the loss after tossing 1.1 innings an giving up four runs on two hits.
