ATLANTA – The Kennesaw State softball team could not bounce back after a big fifth inning by Georgia State, falling to the Panthers 7-3 Wednesday night at the Bob Heck Softball Complex.
How It Happened
Cheyanne Sales got the Owls going in the bottom of the first inning with an RBI double to left center field to plate
Lexi Solorzano.
After a scoreless frame, the Panthers scored four runs on a pair of home runs from Emily Brown and Sophie Mooney.
KSU responded with a solo shot from
Raleigh Williams in the top of the fourth inning, keeping her bat going in the top of the fifth with an RBI double to right center field to cut the GSU lead 4-3.
The Panthers extended their lead to 7-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning thanks to a three-run home run from Skylar Mosel.
Julia Allen collected the win over 5.1 innings of work, allowing two runs on three hits and one strikeout.
Lindsey Kyte (1-2) suffered the loss after 2.1 innings, striking out two and walking three.
Notable Stats
- Raleigh Williams was 2-for-2 at the plate recording her first home run of the season while collecting her second double of the year.
- Cheyanne Sales collected her second RBI of the season.
