KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women's tennis team defeated Mercer 5-2 on the Betty Siegel Courts on Sunday afternoon.
"Solid team win today," Director of tennis
Matt Emery said. "Taylor, Ji and Sofia showed great leadership closing out their singles matches. We are tough to beat. When we close out matches like this, our opponents never get any belief that they can come back."
The Owls clinched the doubles point and four singles points to grab the win.
In doubles,
Ji Youn Lee and Valentine Taddia got the Owls going with a 6-1 win over Lauren Rich and Alara Hollyfield on court two.
Sofia Pinedo and
Soomin Kim followed with a 7-5 victory over Kristin Yordanova and Lekah Varudandi on court one.

Paola Cortez were tied 6-6 on court one when the point was clinched.
In singles, KSU extended their lead 3-0 on courts five and one with a pair of straight set victories over Mercer. The Bear picked up wins on courts three and four cut the Owls lead 3-2.
Lee defeated Hollyfield in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 on court two to secure the win for the Owls. Kim closed the door on Yordanova in straight sets 6-1, 7-5 on court six.
The Owls take a road trip to Deland, Fla., on Friday March 19 taking on Stetson in their first ASUN match up of the season.
