OPENING DRAW
» The Kennesaw State women's lacrosse team kicks off ASUN play Monday afternoon hosting the Stetson hatters at 12 p.m. on Sports Park Field 3. The Owls look to even the all-time series against Stetson having won the last two meetings. Monday's meeting marks the first conference game across the league with the next ASUN matchup not until Apr. 3.

» The Owls are coming off a decent showing at Vanderbilt in which they nearly rallied for a second half comeback thanks to five goals from Siena Gore. Gore has logged 13 goals over the last two games tying the KSU single-game record with eight goals and 10 points in KSU's win at Winthrop. Gore is currently ranked ninth in the NCAA for total goals (19) and seventh for goals per game (4.75). This year Gore became the first Owl in program history to record over 200 career points with 206 and counting. She already maintains the KSU all-time record for career goals by more than 40 goals and needs just two more to set the all-time ASUN record.

» Freshman goalkeeper Julia Weiss has been a huge presence in the cage for KSU, recording double-digit saves in the last two games. Weiss currently leads the ASUN and ranks 21st in the nation averaging 9.75 saves per game. She has racked up 39 total saves on the year, including a career-high 12 in KSU's win over Winthrop. Defensively, the Owls have three players ranked in the league's top-10 for caused turnovers with Marissa Gore and Siena Gore tied for sixth and Roslyn Talbert in 10th recording seven and six caused turnovers respectively. KSU has logged double-digit caused turnovers in three games this year with its 9.75 caused turnovers per game average ranked 32nd in the NCAA.

» KSU has converted 15 of its 34 free position attempts this season to rank 39th in the NCAA with a 44.1 free position shooting percentage. Siena Gore has netted 12 of the Owls' 15 free position goals making her the only player in the ASUN with more than five free position goals. Her 3.0 free position goals per game average leads the entire country. Gore's 78 career free position goals is more than double the next closest Owl in program history.

» The Owls have been big on the draw so far this year averaging 12 draw controls per game this season to rank second in the ASUN. Four Owls, Siena Gore (2nd), Marissa Gore (4th), Caroline Farley (8th) and Jaxsyn Schonewille (10), rank among the league's top-10 for total draw controls. Siena Gore ranks second in the conference and 45th in the NCAA averaging five draw controls per game.

SISTER SISTER
Senior twins Siena and Marissa Gore have either broken or are ranked in the top-10 for nearly every category in the KSU career record book.

Siena Gore has broken the single-season record for points, goals and draw controls twice, becoming the only Owl in history to record over 150 goals and 250 draw controls. She just recently set the KSU all-time career record for points and is one of four players in ASUN history to earn at least 200 career points (206).

She had a record game at Winthrop in which she tied the KSU single-game record for goals (8) and points (10). Siena leads the ASUN with 21 points and is one of six players in the conference, along with sister Marissa, to record at least 10 points on the year, having played two less games than the other four. She ranks in the league's top-10 for draw controls (2nd), assists (6th), ground balls (9th), caused turnovers (6th) and shooting percentage (3rd).

Siena Gore ranks seventh in the NCAA averaging 4.75 goals per game and 19th for points per game averaging 5.25.

Marissa Gore has been another all-around powerhouse for KSU, ranking fifth all-time for career assists (33), third for draw controls (149) and sixth for caused turnovers (42). She currently ranks ninth for career points with 95 and recently cracked the top-10 for career goals with 62 to rank ninth.

Marissa ranks among the ASUN's top-10 for goals (T-3rd), points (3rd), draw controls (4th) and caused turnovers (6th) while ranked 12th for ground balls.

BETWEEN THE PIPES
With the graduation of revered goalkeeper Alex Bunn, all eyes have turned to freshmen Julia Weiss and Errin Crowe to step into the cage.

Weiss comes to KSU from South Carroll HS in Sykesville, Md., leading the Cavaliers to their first ever Class 2A State Championship and a 17-1 record in 2019. She was named an all-county selection in 2018 and 2019.

She has been a huge asset in the cage for KSU totaling 39 saves on the year after recording a career-high 12 at Winthrop to earn her first career win. Weiss currently ranks 21st in the NCAA averaging 9.75 saves per game, having logged 10 or more saves in the last two games.

She shined in her debut, earning the starting nod in KSU's season-opener to record eight saves to help the Owls maintain a 4-3 lead at halftime against Coastal Carolina. She also logged eight saves against No. 6 Florida.

Fellow freshman Crowe has logged over 40 minutes in the net this year recording five total saves. She helped lead Lassiter HS to three Area 4 6A/7A championships from 2017-19, finishing her prep career with a 56-17 overall record.

The duo have been aided by an Owl defense that is averaging 9.75 caused turnovers per game. If maintained, it would set a new single-season record marking just the second time in program history KSU has averaged over nine caused turnovers per game.

Three Owls, Marissa Gore, Siena Gore and Roslyn Talbert, all rank among the league's top-10 for total caused turnovers.

FREE NINETY NINE
The Owls have made the most of their free position attempts so far this season, converting 15 of their 34 shots. KSU's 44.1 percent shooting percentage from the arc ranks 39th in the NCAA with its 15 total goals ranked T-17th.

KSU's stellar production is due in large part to Siena Gore who has scored 12 goals on 19 free position attempts. She is the only player in the ASUN to record more than five goals from the eight-meter arc, leading the country in both total goals and goals per game (3.00). She is one of three players in the NCAA with at least 10 free position goals.

Marissa Gore has netted two free position goals on the year with sophomore Natalie Welch recording her first career goal off a free position attempt.

UP NEXT
After Monday's ASUN opener the Owls will have a week off before returning to the field, traveling to Gardner-Webb to face the Runnin' Bulldogs Tuesday (Mar. 23).
