KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women's tennis team defeated Davidson 5-2 on the Davidson Tennis Courts Wednesday evening.
"I am very happy we got the win tonight," Director of Tennis
Matt Emery said. "I think everyone in our program here would agree that we did not compete, prepare or preform up to our standards today. It is always good to get road wins against quality teams, especially since we lost here last year."
The Owls picked up five singles points to secure the victory.
In doubles,
Paola Cortez and
Ji Youn Lee fell to Nicole Krykanov 6-3 on court one.
Taylor Dean and Valentine Taddia tied doubles up defeating Mira Gladstone and Franny Shea 7-5 on Court two. The Wildcats secured the doubles point on court three with a 7-6 (8-6) win from Alyssa Hahn and Ava Ignatowich over
Sofia Pinedo and
Soomin Kim to take an early 1-0 lead.
Davidson extended its lead 2-0 on court one when Josie Schaffer defeated Dean in straight sets 6-4, 6-1. Lee got the Owls on the board defeating Krykanov in straight sets 6-4, 6-0 on court two. Taddia tied the game on court four defeating Ignatowich 6-3, 6-4.
Pinedo, Kim and Cortez each won their matches in three sets. Cortez clinched the match on court three over Gladstone 5-7, 6-2, 6-4.
The Owls continue their road trip to Charlotte, N.C, taking on Charlotte at 10:30 am on Thursday (March 11).
