ATHENS, Ga- The Kennesaw State softball team falls to No. 19 Georgia 8-3 at Jack Turner Stadium on Thursday night.
How it Happened
The Bulldogs started quick scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning.
UGA added two more in the bottom of the second inning with a pair of solo home runs from Mackenzie Flincher and Lacey Puckett to extend their lead 5-0.
In the top of the third inning
Brea Dickey collected an RBI groundout the scored
Andrea Summey to put the Owls on the board 5-1.
The Bulldogs put up two more runs in the bottom of the third inning. Flincher added one more to the UGA lead with a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 8-1.
The Owls put up two runs in the top of the seventh inning thanks to an RBI single up the middle from
Christen Florence to bring home Raliegh Williams and a fielding error on UGA allowing
Faith Alexander to cross home plate, bringing the score to 8-3.
Mary Wilson Avant (5-0) collected the win after tossing 4.0 innings, allowing just one run on four hits, and striking out five.
Melanie Bennett (2-4) suffered the loss after 2.0 innings of work, striking out and walking four.
Next Up
The Owls will travel to Atlanta, Ga. to take on Georgia Tech at 2 p.m. on Saturday (Feb. 27).
