Match Preview
The Kennesaw State women's tennis team welcomes Georgia State to the Betty Siegel Courts on Tuesday (Feb. 24). This will be their first game in over two weeks since the Owls match against Mercer on February 13
th was canceled due to inclement weather.
Match Attendance
Due to COVID-19 protocols, attendance will be capped at 60 fans for this season.
Mask Up!
Fans are required to wear a mask covering their nose and mouth during the duration of their time at the Betty Siegel Courts.
Scouting Georgia State
The Panthers are 1-4 on the 2021 season. GSU fell 7-0 to No. 5 Georgia and No. 22 Florida. GSU has also lost to Liberty and Georgia Gwinnett. Their lone win came against Charleston Southern.
The Series
Tuesday's match will be the sixth meeting between the two programs. Georgia State leads the series 5-0. The Panthers won 5-2 on March 6, 2020.
The Last Time Out
The Kennesaw State women's tennis team clinched a 4-2 win over Jacksonville State at the Betty Siegel Courts on Sunday (Feb. 7).
The Gamecocks picked up the doubles point.
Taylor Dean and
Valentina Taddia fell to Charlie Corteau and Harriet Hamilton 6-1 on court one.
Paola Cortez and
Ji Youn Lee dominated Balsen Kaya and Dariana Prato 6-2 on court two.
Soomin Kim and Brenna Rielly fought till the very end falling to Sara Jamal and Malin Buechner 7-5 on court three.
KSU clinched four singles matches to secure the win. In singles, Dean defeated Hamilton 6-0, 6-2 and Lee overpowered Corteau in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. Taddia dominated on court three to put the Owls ahead by one.
Sofia Pinedo and Alessia Locati were starting their third set when the match was clinched. Kim closed the door against Martina Zarza 6-1, 6-4 on No. 6.
Next Up
The Owls travel to Furman on Saturday (Feb. 27) at 3 p.m. EST.
