KENNESAW, Ga. – Peering ahead down the calendar marks the beginning of a new season for the Kennesaw State University women's soccer team. The Owls hope to continue their impressive record from last season in which they finished 11-7-2 with head coach Benji Walton leading the way.
This year's team is comprised of seven freshman, six sophomores, six juniors and seven seniors who aim to carve their name in the team's winning history once again.
The team will especially be looking for their leading goal scorer, sophomore Becky Contreras, to keep up her excellent form from the previous season where she ended with five goals, and from Erin Harris, the senior who led the team in assist totals with six.

The Owls will also be expecting their defensive line to join in on the attack. Kelsey Hahn and Kendall Hart totaling two assists each, Kathryn Schreck with one assist and Camryn Simmons totaling one goal and one assist.
Kennesaw State is scheduled to play its season opener on Friday, Feb. 12, at 6 p.m. where it tackles the Jacksonville Dolphins in an away match that is certain to be a thriller.
On Friday, Feb. 28, the Owls are slated to begin their ASUN Conference matches which ae expected to be quite a challenge as they face the following teams in a series of home/away matches: Lipscomb University, Liberty University, Bellarmine University and the University of North Alabama.

Looking ahead, the matches against the University of North Alabama and Lipscomb University might prove to be our biggest competition as the schools have a long history with Kennesaw State.
The Owls have built a heated rivalry with Lipscomb University due, only, to the tightness of their matches. The teams first faced one another in 2005 where Kennesaw State was able to snatch a 7-1 win over the Bisons, but over the years the Owls have compiled a 11-7-1 record against Lipscomb making this year's matches something to be excited about.
Additionally, stemming from 2002, the Owls rivalry with the North Alabama Lions has proven to be interesting with the teams having a 2-2 record against one another.
