                 KENNESAW, Ga. – Junior cornerback 
Je'Cory Burks was named to the COSIDA First Team Academic All-District with a 3.52 GPA in the classroom and a stellar season on the field. The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the classroom and on the gridiron. Burks has started all 10 games for the Owls' defense this season and is working on a degree in computer science.
The cornerback has 26 tackles (16 solo) on the year, five pass break-ups and one fumble return for a touchdown. The 89-yard fumble return pushed the game out of reach late in the fourth quarter and propelled the Owls' to a 30-7 victory at Campbell. Burks has totaled 565 snaps at cornerback for the Owls' defense.
Burks and the Owls (9-1, 6-0 Big South Conference) are back in action for the Big South Championship game this Saturday, Nov. 20 against Monmouth. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. inside Fifth Third Bank Stadium. Tickets are available for purchase by clicking
