KENNESAW, Ga. – Simeon Cottle is the latest product from the state of Georgia to sign with Kennesaw State, as the College Park native has signed his national letter of intent to play for the Owls in the fall of 2022-23, Owl head coach Amir Abdur-Rahim announced Wednesday.
"When we took the job here, one our emphasis was making sure we put a priority on recruiting locally, not just talking all the Georgia guys, but ones that we thought could come in and help our program," said Abdur-Rahim. "Simeon Cottle is one of those guys. He fits everything we're about.
"He's a strong student with a 3.5 GPA in the classroom, he cares about his education and who he wants to be beyond basketball. He's a family guy and knows what it means to put family first as well. In terms of basketball, I think the sky's the limit for him. His ability to shoot the ball and stretch the floor, that's something you always want to try to add to your team. His best attribute though is his competitiveness, and that's where he fits 1000% for us. It doesn't matter who he's playing against, he always has the competitive drive in him and that's something we always want in our program. Competition breeds excellence, the more we can have in our program that are naturally competitive the better we'll be."
Cottle, a 6-1 combo guard, helped Tri-Cities High to one state championship title (2019 Class AAAAAA), as well as a state runner-up finish and three regional championships. A first-team all-state selection in 2020-21, he averaged 16 points, 5.3 assists and 3.1 rebounds for the Bulldogs. Cottle has also been a member of the ABC elite AAU program.
