KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State volleyball, riding a six-game win streak, is looking for a record eighth win in the month of October as it faces the Liberty Lady Flames in an ASUN road contest Friday at 6 pm in Lynchburg, Va.

Outside of a 3-0 loss at current first place FGCU, KSU has won the other seven games this month for a 7-1 record. Of the seven wins, only one went the full distance, while three were 3-0 sweeps.

This is the second meeting of the season between KSU and Liberty. The Owls have won all 12 previous meetings, including a 3-0 sweep at the beginning of the month in Kennesaw.

Following the solo game this weekend, the Owls will have two weekends left of regular season play, highlighted by a home game against first-place FGCU on Nov. 7, while the Nov. 12 contest at UNF could potentially determine the second seed in the upcoming ASUN Tournament next month.

Players To Watch
Super senior Lauren Chastang has done it all this season, as despite limited by injuries for several games earlier this season, is one of three players with over 150 kills with 259 while averaging 3.16 per set. She leads the team in aces with 36, as well as double-doubles (9). Another Owl having a great season is junior Emma Schufranz with a team-high 281 kills (3.47 per set) and a .276 hitting percentage. Senior Bri Becerra meanwhile is posting a team-high 3.18 digs per game and Claire Parsons is averaging a team-best 1.20 blocks per set.

Scouting the Lady Flames
Liberty comes in looking for a win to move pass Stetson in the division rankings, as the Lady Flames sit at 5-6 in ASUN play, while the Hatters are 6-5. A five-game losing streak send Liberty down to the lower half of the league standings after a strong non-conference start, but they have since rebounded to win three of its past four contests.
Five players for Liberty all have over 100 kills on the season, led by Trinity Watts' 166 total kills for the year (2.91 kps).

Owls Racking Up Weekly Accolades
Kennesaw State has been making a lot of noise with its six-game win streak, and several players have been recognized as well for their performances as three Owls have been named ASUN Players of the Week over the past two weeks.

Most recently it was Lauren Chastang picking up honors, as she was named Player of the Week on Oct. 26 after averaged a team-high 3.8 kills per set and hitting .380 hitting performance to lead the Owls to a 3-0 weekend sweep (Oct. 22-24).

She joined Emma Schurfranz and Claire Parsons, who were named ASUN Player and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, after carrying KSU to victories over Jacksonville and North Florida at home on Oct. 15 and 17.

Acing The Competition
The Owls have thrived behind the line this season, as in games played through Oct. 27, they ranked 23rd in the nation in service aces per game with 1.84.

Record-setting Performance
Lauren Chastang is having an outstanding senior season for the Owls, as she tied the KSU record for most aces in a match with seven in the win over Alabama. Even more impressively, those came in a three-set match. Her seven aces is also the most in school history in a three-set match.

Chart leaders
Lauren Chastang will leave her mark all over the Kennesaw State record book, as it took just a few games into her 2021 season to become the all-time kills and service aces leader. She currently has 1435 kills in her career, passing Sabrita Gulley (1240), while her seven aces against Alabama on September 9 moved her into first place with 125 (currently at 144).
