The Kennesaw State women's soccer team's last road trip of the season takes the form of a Sunday-afternoon fixture between the Owls and the North Florida Ospreys in Jacksonville, Fla.
Head coach Benji Walton's squad is coming off of an exciting 2-1 win against the Stetson Hatters on Thursday night.Â
With another three points in the bag, the Owls currently sit atop of the ASUN's East division standings with a total tally of seven points.
A Rivera Runs Through It
Left winger Tianna Rivera got back on the scoresheet for the first time since her three-point game against Wofford on Sept. 19.Â
Ebony Clarke worked the ball up the pitch before turning with it in the Stetson box, finding Rivera on the 18-yard line with a pass.Â
The sophomore put a charge into the ball, which kissed the right post and past the keeper to open the scoring against the Hatters in the 14th minute.Â
Rivera currently ranks third among Owls on points with seven, scoring two goals and creating three.Â
Swinton Scores
Right back Aila Swinton has impressed since being given a place in the Owls' starting 11.Â
Her tenaciousness and determination have marked her performances on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.Â
The freshman's hard work paid off against the team's DeLand, Fla. adversaries.Â
Finding herself in the box for Kendall Higgs' free kick, the defender put herself in the right place at the time to barrel in the cross for her first collegiate goal.Â
Next Match
The Owls host the final game of their regular season on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 1 p.m., an important battle between Kennesaw State and East-division rivals, Liberty.
