KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State volleyball is home for just its second and third home games of the ASUN season, and looking to post back-to-back wins for the first time since the first week of September when it hosts Jacksonville and North Florida in the Convocation Center on Homecoming Weekend, starting Friday night at 7 pm against the Jacksonville Dolphins. While the all-time series is tied at 12-12, the Owls have dominated lately, having won the past five matches all by 3-0 scores. In addition, JU has struggled this season, coming in with a 4-14 overall record and 1-5 in league action.
North Florida meanwhile is one of the top teams in the ASUN this season at 5-1 in the conference, trailing just FGCU who remains undefeated in ASUN play, while their overall record of 16-2 ranks them in the top ten in the nation for win percentage. The game against UNF will start on Sunday, October 17 at 1 pm.
Players To Watch
Super senior
Lauren Chastang has done it all this season, as despite limited by injuries for several games earlier this season, is one of three players with over 100 kills with 192 while averaging 3.00 per set. She leads the team in aces with 28, as well as double-doubles (7). Another Owl having a great season is junior Emma Schufranz with a team-high 214 kills (3.4 per set) and a .251 hitting percentage. Senior
Bri Becerra meanwhile is posting a team-high 3.36 digs per game.
Scouting the Dolphins
Jacksonville has lost seven of its last eight matches, and has just one road win this season, at UNC Wilmington in non-conference play. In ASUN action, the Dolphins have lost four matches by a 3-0 margin, including the last three. Cami Kelsay paces the team with a 3.58 kills per set average (111 total) and she is hitting at a .233 percentage this season.
Scouting the Ospreys
UNF is in the midst of one of the best seasons in school history, currently ranking 65th in the nation in RPI, while their No. 49 ranking a week ago was a program-record. The Ospreys began the year with seven straight wins, and their only league loss was a 3-2 setback to FGCU. Four players are in triple digits for kills this season, with Dariana Hollingsworth-Santana leading the way with 214 for a 3.19 set average.
