TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Kennesaw State women's tennis team suffered a 7-0 setback to Alabama on Saturday (Jan. 30) inside the Roberta Alison Baumgardner Tennis Facility.
 
Alabama (4-0) clinched the doubles point and six singles matches to win the match.

"We were really pleased with the effort from the girls today." Director of Tennis Matt Emery said. "We were too in and out in the doubles point, which cost us."
 
All three of the Owls doubles teams gave strong efforts today. Taylor Dean and Valentina Taddia, playing in the No. 1 spot, started with a 3-2 lead before falling to Sydney Riley and Anne Marie Hiser 6-4. Paola Cortez and Ji Youn Lee battled it out until the very end, losing 7-5 on court No. 3
 
In singles, Dean started with a 3-0 lead  in the first set before falling 6-3, 6-2 to Moka Ito on court one. Lee battled with Anne Marie Hiser losing 6-3, 6-3  on court four .
 
"I was proud of the efforts that everyone put forth in singles." Emery said. "We had several chances to get our teeth into the match and turn the momentum, but that just didn't go our way, and that's part of the game."
 
The Owls hit the road to Murfreesboro, Tennessee taking on Middle Tennessee Friday (Feb. 5) at 1 p.m.
