Big South All-Decade Team | 2020 Season Tickets

KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State football team was well represented Monday afternoon on the Big South Conference All-Decade Team presented by Hercules Tires, as six current and former Owls were named to the team.

A 15-person committee of Big South Conference administrators served as the official voting panel to determine the All-Decade Team, with fan voting comprising 20 percent of the overall total. Despite only playing half the decade, Kennesaw State had five players and one coach represented on the team.

Brian Bohannon | 2015-Present
Bohannon led Kennesaw State to the best start-up program in college football history, posting 48 victories through the first five seasons, including two Big South Conference championships, three straight appearances in the FCS Playoffs and five total playoff victories. KSU is quickly becoming one of the best FCS program in the nation as one of nine teams to make the FCS Playoffs each of the last three years and one of five teams to win a playoff game in each of those seasons. Bohannon is a two-time Big South Conference Coach of the Year, the 2017 AFCA FCS National Coach of the Year and twice a finalist for the Eddie Robinson Award.

Chandler Burks | 2015-18
As the first signee in the history of Kennesaw State football, Burks helped define the championship standard of the program. He finished his career with 2,813 rushing yards and 56 rushing touchdowns on his way to leading the Owls to two Big South Conference championships and back-to-back appearances in the quarterfinals of the FCS Playoffs. He is a two-time Big South Offensive Player of the Year and Scholar-Athlete of the Year and finished runner-up for the 2018 Walter Payton Award as the FCS National Player of the Year. Burks scored 29 rushing touchdowns in 2018 to set an FCS single-season record by a quarterback and was named the National Performer of the Year at the College Football Performance Awards. He enters his first season as the QB coach at KSU in 2020.

Bryson Armstrong | 2017-Present
As one of the most decorated players in school history, Armstrong made a name for himself early in his college career, earning the Jerry Rice National Freshman of the Year honor in 2017 to go along with consensus All-America honors. He led the nation as a rookie with four fumbles recovered, committed 11 solo sacks to set a Big South Conference record and led all linebackers in the league with 114 tackles. After earning All-Big South first team honors in 2018, Armstrong was back to his All-America ways in 2019 with consensus honors once again after being named the Big South Defensive Player of the Year. He enters his senior season this fall and currently holds program career records for total tackles, solo tackles and sacks.

Anthony Gore, Jr. | 2015-18
During his four-year career, Gore established himself as one of the most dominant linebackers in conference history, registering 275 tackles to rank second in school history and adding 42.0 tackles for loss. He tied the program's single-season record with 17.0 tackles for loss in 2018, highlighted by a career-high six tackles for loss against Wofford in the 2018 FCS Playoffs to set a Big South Conference record. He was named the 2018 Big South Conference Defensive Player of the Year and is a three-time Big South All-Conference honoree. Following his collegiate career, Gore signed a professional contract with the Calgary Stampeders in the Canadian Football League.

Desmond Johnson, Jr. |Â 2016-19
Johnson entered elite company in 2019 when he became just the fourth player in league history to earn first team All-Big South Conference honors four times. He tops the Kennesaw State record books with 43.0 career tackles for loss and his 17.0 tackles for loss in 2019 ranked third in the league and tied the program's single-season record. His 17.0 career sacks are tied for the program record and his five forced fumbles are tied for the most in program history.

Justin Thompson | 2015-18
Thompson holds nearly every kicking record in Kennesaw State history, including PAT's made with 196 and consecutive PAT's made with 120. He was named the 2017 Big South Conference Special Teams Player of the Year and went on to earn first team AFCA All-America honors after going a perfect 52-of-52 in PAT's and 17-of-21 in field goal attempts. He added second-team Big South All-Conference honors in 2018 after another perfect season of PAT's, this time going 68-of-68. In his career, Thompson is 196-of-202 in PAT's, making 97 percent of his attempts. He is second in program history in points scored with 316 and holds the school record with 40 made field goals.
