Owls Welcome Transfer Alex Peterson To the Nest

KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State men's basketball team bolstered its already dynamic incoming 2020 class with the addition of junior transfer Alex Peterson, Wednesday afternoon.
 
"Alex Peterson is a young man we are very excited to add to our program," said Head Coach Amir Abdur-Rahim. "He is a motored-up, hard rocking guy that plays with great effort and a chip on his shoulder every night."
 
Coming to KSU from Missouri State University West Plains, Peterson was an NJCAA All-Region 16 and All-Missouri Community College Athletic Conference first team selection this past season.
 
Peterson was second on the team averaging 14.3 points per game while shooting 54.9 percent from the floor. He hit double-figures in 22 games, including a career-high 32 points against Link Year Prep, going 15-of-17 from the floor. The 6-7 forward dominated the boards averaging 6.8 rebounds per game and 30 total blocks during the 2019-20 season to lead the Grizzlies.
 
Peterson finished his two seasons at MSUWP with a 54.5 shooting percentage, racking up over 650 points, 350 rebounds and 50 blocks.
 
Originally from Tappahannock, Va., Peterson played his prep basketball at S4G Academy.

2019-20 (Sophomore at MSUWP): Appeared in 30 games, making 28 starts … averaged 14.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game … led the team with 203 total boards … shot 54.9 percent from the floor on the year … logged a team-high 30 blocks… tallied 21 steals and 34 assists … recorded 10 or more points in 22 games, 20 or more in six … netted a career high 32 points against Link Year Prep, finishing 15-of-17 from the floor … finished the year with seven double-doubles … tied his career-high of 14 rebounds three times …  notched a career-high four blocks against State Fair CC.
 
2018-19 (Freshman at MSUWP): Saw action in 32 games his freshman season, earning 14 starts … averaged 7.9 points and 5.0 rebounds per game … recorded a double-double in his first career appearance with 13 points and a career-high 14 rebounds against Nationwide Academy … hit double-figures in nine games, including a season-high 22 points against Southwest Tennessee CC … pulled down 10 or more rebounds twice … made first career start against Murray State College … led the team with 24 blocks … finished the year with 25 assists and 14 steals.
